In 2007,
PNVSCA focused its activities in providing policy advice and direction,
information services and technical support to its stakeholders in the
volunteer community. The most significant achievement of which was the
passage of Republic Act No. 9418, otherwise known as the “Volunteer Act
of 2007”, in which PNVSCA closely collaborate with the House Committee
on Rural Development in drafting said RA and in the conduct of
consultation with various stakeholders.

- JOCV Turn-Over Ceremony. The 138th Batch of Japanese volunteers under the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) were handed over to their host organizations during yesterday’s Turn-Over Ceremony at the ‘Bulwagan Bayanihan”-Volunteer Knowledge and Resource Center (VKRC). Read more
- Inauguration of VKRC. The PNVSCA and its partner volunteer organizations and stakeholders celebrated the opening of the "Bulwagan Bayanihan"-Volunteer Knowledge and Resource Center (VKRC) on July 25, together with the NEDA Family and other guests. Read more
- MOA Signing for the Project "Enhancing Dairy Buffalo Enterprise Development". The KOICA, the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) and the PNVSCA forged a Memorandum of Agreement on 22 July 2008 to deploy Korea Overseas Volunteers in local communities to assist in areas related to dairy business and management, animal husbandry, dairy processing and quality control. - Joint Evaluation for the Dairy Development Enhancement Project under JOCV Program. A Japanese Evaluation Team organized by the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers/JICA visited the Philippines on 13 July 2008 to evaluate the Dairy Development Enhancement Project together with the Philippine Evaluation Team. 2008 NVM HONORARY CHAIR
Dr. Amelita Dayrit-Go, 2001 SOV Awardee is now the 2008 NVM Honorary Chair. Dr. Go is a long time advocate and champion of volunteerism. She will lead the National Volunteer Month (NVM) with the NVM Steering Committee celebration as it builds nationwide public awareness of volunteerism, create the environment for volunteering and recognize volunteers as partners in development.
Dr. Go’s involvement in volunteerism dates back to her student days as a Girl Scout and onwards as member of the Board of the GSP, Dr. Go is the past President and currently the Honorary Chair of the Philippine Association for Volunteer Efforts, Inc. (PAVE) and Member of the Board of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), an organization known to engage in diverse volunteer programs advocating service through volunteerism and mobilizing all sectors of society to promote volunteerism as a Filipino way of life.
