VOLUNTEER ACT OF 2007

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed on April 10, 2007 Republic Act No. 9418 also known as the “Volunteer Act of 2007” institutionalizing volunteerism as a strategy for national development and international cooperation.  Read more

In 2007, PNVSCA focused its activities in providing policy advice and direction, information services and technical support to its stakeholders in the volunteer community. The most significant achievement of which was the passage of Republic Act No. 9418, otherwise known as the “Volunteer Act of 2007”, in which PNVSCA closely collaborate with the House Committee on Rural Development in drafting said RA and in the conduct of consultation with various stakeholders.  Read more.  

WHAT'S NEW?

  • Conflict resolution with the help of technology.  GIS is the software that is used for mapping.  In the Philippines a lot of people still use paper maps because they are unfamiliar with the software.  GIS can be used not only for displaying maps, but also for storing and analyzing data. Because of my training sessions, the project staff now has enough skills to use GIS to continue their projects after I have left.  Read more.  
     

  • UNVs ‘Going Global’. The “Multi Functional Cooperation in Peacekeeping” training in Sweden was focused on the peacekeeping framework, strategies and important skills necessary for peacekeepers in a multi- functional situation. Read more.
     

  • African Experience.  Having been into volunteering assignments twice already, first in Pakistan and now, in Malawi, I can say that Filipinos can prove to be adaptable and flexible.  Read more.

2007 AWARDING FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS HELD AT SHANGRI-LA, MANDALUYONG CITY.  The celebration of National Volunteer Month (NVM) every month of December was capped with the conferment of awards to the awardees of the 2007 Search For Outstanding Volunteers last December 12, 2007 at the Palawan 1 and 2 Hall, EDSA Shangri-La in Mandaluyong City.  Read more.

 The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announces the start of the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees for the year 2008.

In line with the Commission's enduring advocacy to recognize and reward exemplars in the public service, the entire bureaucracy is encouraged to participate by sending nominations and have their respective high flyers recognized.
